Phil's Auto Body History
Phil Chadd's introduction to auto repair came when he traded hours working in a small auto body shop as payment for a motorcycle. Little did he suspect it would lead to a career he's enjoyed since 1973. Phil managed body shops in Santa Cruz for the Mercedes Benz and Toyota dealerships until opening his own company in 1993. As a family owned and operated business both his daughters Angela and Danielle, as well as his wife Karen, have worked in the business along side him. Angela and Danielle worked in the office, did insurance estimates, ordered parts, and provided excellent customer service. They have since both moved on to their own successful careers leaving Phil and Karen to manage on their own.
Walter Nash the lead body technician has been with the company for over ten years. As an ICAR Platinum technician and ASE certified mechanic he is a master craftsman in his field. He has worked in the auto body repair industry for 28 years and at one time owned his own repair facility. Miguel Castaneda the head painter has been with the company for nine years. He started as a prepper but soon worked his way up to painter learning his skills and craft with an attention to detail. They all work well as a team to bring together a professionally finished product to it's pre loss condition.
As long time community members and business owners Phil and Karen know the importance of satisfied customers. They have built their business on the quality of repair they offer and the reputation that has brought them. They are members of the California Autobody Association, National Federation of Independent Business, Think Local First of Santa Cruz County, and the Better Business Bureau. Phil and Karen believe in supporting community where you live and work. Phil's Auto Body has sponsored events and groups throughout the years including Gals Softball, Harbor High Golf, De Laveaga Jr. Golf Program, Live Oak Little League, Second Harvest Food Bank, Santa Cruz Farm Bureau, and Cabrillo College Culinary Program.
Phil is an avid golfer, fisherman, and Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. Karen enjoys organic gardening, floral design, and loves spending time with their three grand children. They also enjoy getting away from it all when they get a chance to spend some time and enjoy a little snorkeling with family and friends in Maui.
For the fourth consecutive year Phil's Auto Body has earned the Diamond Certified award. The Diamond Certified award is presented only to Auto Body Repair Shops and other local service companies that rate "highest in quality" in a detailed customer satisfaction study of their own customers served during the previous four year period. Each company must also pass a license, insurance, and complaint status rating. To maintain Diamond Certification, American Ratings Corporation conducts ongoing customer satisfaction surveys and checks credentials on a regular basis.
